Eli Lilly's Levitra has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating erectile dysfunction (ED).
Levitra is currently being approved for use as an ED drug. FDA approved it as a treatment for "off label" uses (used to treat an underlying medical condition that isn't a treatment for ED) and as a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Levitra was approved for this indication and was approved by the FDA to treat ED as well as BPH.
"We are currently working on a Phase II trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Levitra," said Dr. William T. Hlatky, associate professor of urology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. "A Phase II trial in patients with erectile dysfunction (ED) and a positive response to treatment with Levitra is underway in several large randomized clinical trials."
Levitra is being evaluated in several large randomized clinical trials in men with ED and BPH and in patients with other conditions: erectile dysfunction, BPH, ED and erectile dysfunction with the use of nitroglycerin. In addition, Levitra is also being evaluated in a Phase III trial in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), in men with ED and ED and ED.
Treatment with Levitra will be administered by an experienced urologist or urologist. A physician may prescribe Levitra as a single dose of Levitra, or a combination of two doses of Levitra. Levitra is available in two doses for up to eight hours.
